According to an October 1, 2026 report by Marathon Handbook, the insurance company Generali will become the title sponsor of the Berlin Marathon starting September 26, 2027, succeeding BMW. The report said BMW's title sponsorship of the event lasted 16 years, during which six marathon world records were set on the Berlin course. Currently there is only this one report on the event, with no other sources disclosing the title sponsorship fee, contract duration, or the reason for BMW's exit, and no further statements from the race organizers or the two companies have been seen.
