Boston Marathon 2027 Acceptance Results Announced

2 sources · 2 reports

On September 29-30, 2026, the Boston Athletic Association announced the acceptance results for the 131st Boston Marathon (2027). Earlier reports said the 2027 qualifying cutoff was 5:17, 43 seconds stricter than 2026's 4:34; a total of 33,649 people applied, 25,630 qualifiers have been accepted or are in the acceptance process, and another 8,019 who ran qualifying times were not selected. Later reports said the age-group cutoff was 5:17, 43 seconds more than 2026, but the number of accepted qualifiers still hit a record high because a new selection pathway added in July provided an additional 1,000 spots for applicants who met the standard but did not make the cutoff. The total field size remains capped at 30,000 official entrants, with the remaining spots made up of charity program entries, invited professional athletes, and athletes with disabilities.
