Orange Shirt Day: Remembering Indigenous distance legends like Tom Longboat and Angela Chalmers

On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day, Canadian Running remembers Indigenous running legends. Peter Deer became the first Indigenous athlete to represent Canada internationally at the 1904 Olympics. Tom Longboat won the 1907 Boston Marathon in a course-record 2:24:24. Angela Chalmers still holds the women's 3,000m national record of 8:32.17.
