Ready to make history, Gabriyesos looks to send global message of hope

Eritrean refugee marathoner Tachlowini Gabriyesos has been selected for the Refugee Olympic Team at the Tokyo 2020 Games. On 14 March he became the first refugee athlete to break an Olympic qualifying mark, running 2:10:55 at the Hahula Galilee Marathon, his second race at the distance, under the 2:11:30 standard. He fled Eritrea at 12, reached Israel via Ethiopia, Sudan, Egypt and the Sinai Desert, and has missed international races due to visa problems.
